Gunner Vincent Calaway: What The Undertaker’s Son Does Away From WWE
Gunner Vincent Calaway is best known as the eldest son of WWE legend Mark Calaway, better known as The Undertaker. But he chose a different path from his famous father. Instead of becoming a professional wrestler, he studied video game art and developed an interest in digital design.
His story has drawn interest from wrestling fans who want to know more about The Undertaker’s family. A 2018 interview also gave a rare look at Gunner’s own career plans. It showed that he wanted to use his art skills in the video game industry.
Here is what is publicly known about his family, education, career, and personal life.
Who Is Gunner Vincent Calaway?
Gunner Vincent Calaway is an American creative artist and the eldest son of Mark Calaway and his first wife, Jodi Lynn Calaway. His father became famous around the world as The Undertaker.
Unlike his father, Gunner has not built a public career in professional wrestling. His main interest has been video game art and 3D design.
In a 2018 interview, he spoke about his time at Full Sail University. He also shared his plans to work with a video game production team. His comments help explain why he chose a career outside WWE.
Early Life and Family
Gunner grew up in a family linked to professional wrestling. His father, Mark Calaway, became one of WWE’s best-known stars. He made his WWE debut in 1990 and became famous for his dark Undertaker character.
His mother is Jodi Lynn Calaway. She married Mark in 1989, and they later divorced in 1999.
Gunner is widely described as Mark’s eldest child. He also has younger half-siblings from his father’s later relationships, including Chasey and Gracie Calaway.
Despite his father’s fame, Gunner has kept much of his life private. He has not shared many details about his childhood or daily life in public interviews.
Education at Full Sail University
Gunner attended Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. He studied video game art and earned a bachelor’s degree in the field.
His education helped him learn skills used in digital art and game production. These include 3D modeling, character design, textures, lighting, and environment art.
Game artists help build the visual parts of video games. They create objects, buildings, characters, and places that players see on screen.
For example, a 3D artist may design a car or a building. They can also help create a full game world. These items must work with the software used to make the game.
Full Sail’s Game Art program teaches many of these skills. Its courses include 3D art, model creation, game characters, and environment design.
This education gave Gunner a clear path into creative work. It also helped him follow his own interests instead of joining his father’s wrestling career.
Why Did Gunner Calaway Choose Art Over Wrestling?
Growing up with The Undertaker as his father meant Gunner saw wrestling from an early age. He even had an interest in the sport as a child.
However, his goals changed as he grew older. In a 2018 interview with Chandler Sorrells, he spoke openly about this change.
He said wrestling once seemed exciting to him. He compared the wrestlers to superheroes. But as he entered his teenage years, he began to find his own interests.
He later focused on video game art at Full Sail University. He wanted to use his 3D skills in the gaming world.
His choice shows that he did not feel the need to follow his father’s career. He chose a field that matched his own skills and interests.
Career and Plans in Video Game Art
Gunner’s public career story is mainly linked to digital art and video game production.
In his 2018 interview, he said he hoped to work as an artist for a video game production company. He wanted to use his 3D skills as part of a creative team.
He also shared a bigger goal. He hoped to start his own independent game company within five to ten years.
An independent game company makes games outside the large studio system. Such teams can bring artists and other creative workers together.
These comments explain his career plans at that time. They do not confirm that he later started a company or released a game.
A 2018 report also described him as working as a repair technician at the time. This is useful context because it shows that his work history was not limited to art.
There is no clear public record confirming a major commercial game released under his name. His current employer and recent projects are also not firmly established.
It would be unfair to present his old career plans as confirmed achievements. His public comments show his interests, but they do not prove what happened later.
Did Gunner Calaway Meet Vince McMahon?
Yes. Gunner discussed meeting Vince McMahon in the same 2018 interview.
He said he had met the former WWE chairman. He also shared that McMahon was different from the person viewers saw on television.
Gunner described him as a fun person to talk to. He also spoke positively about the way wrestlers treated people outside the ring.
This part of the interview gave fans a small look at his experience around WWE. It also showed that he had met some important people in his father’s professional world.
