Early Life and College Career

Barkley was born in the Bronx to Alibay Barkley and Tonya Johnson. He later went to Whitehall High School in Pennsylvania. His family has a strong boxing background. His father was an amateur boxer, and his great-uncle Iran Barkley was a world champion in three weight classes.

Barkley became a star at Penn State. He finished his college career as the school’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns and all-purpose yards. In 2017, he won the Paul Hornung Award for the most versatile player in college football. He also finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting that year.

Barkley earned his communications degree from Penn State in 2022.

NFL Career

The New York Giants selected Barkley with the second pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He had a strong rookie season, rushing for 1,307 yards and making 91 catches for 2,028 total yards from scrimmage.

He won the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year award and earned a Pro Bowl selection.

Barkley later dealt with injuries, including a season-ending injury in 2020. He returned in 2022 and rushed for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also made his second Pro Bowl.

In March 2024, Barkley left the Giants and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. His first season with Philadelphia became the best statistical season of his NFL career.

In 2024, Barkley rushed for 2,005 yards. He became only the ninth player in NFL history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in one season. He also won the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year award, made first-team All-Pro and was selected for the Pro Bowl.

Super Bowl Success

Barkley helped the Philadelphia Eagles win Super Bowl LIX in February 2025.

The Eagles credit him with 2,504 rushing yards during the 2024 regular season and playoffs. That total broke the previous combined-season record of 2,476 yards, set by Terrell Davis in 1998.

Barkley also became the third rushing champion to win a Super Bowl in the same season. The other two were Terrell Davis and Emmitt Smith.

Family

Barkley and Anna Congdon met while they were both at Penn State. They have been together since college. Public reports describe Congdon as Barkley’s fiancée, not his wife. The couple announced their engagement in 2025.

They have two children, a daughter named Jada and a son named Saquon Jr.

Barkley is also involved in youth programs. The Eagles say the Michael Ann and Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation supports scholarships, education and sports guidance. He also helped create the Saquon Barkley Center of Excellence with St. Luke’s University Health Network in Pennsylvania. The center focuses on physical activity and academics for young people who need support.

Net Worth and Current Status

Saquon Barkley’s exact net worth is not publicly verified. Many websites publish estimates, but those figures should not be treated as confirmed. Salary, contract value, endorsement income and personal wealth are different things.

As of September 2026, Barkley remains a Philadelphia Eagles running back. The Eagles list him as No. 26.

Through the first two regular-season games listed on the Eagles’ official page, Barkley had 19 carries for 92 rushing yards. He also had two receptions for eight yards. These are early-season numbers and do not represent a full-season total.

At 29, Barkley has had a notable NFL career. He starred at Penn State, became a Pro Bowl player with the Giants, overcame major injuries and reached a new level with the Eagles. His 2024 season ended with a Super Bowl win, adding a major team achievement to his long list of individual records.
