Early Life and Education
There is not much trusted public information about Dawson Gurley’s childhood or family background. Public biography pages name Olathe, Kansas, as his hometown. A profile by The State Press described him as a Kansas City-area native who later moved to Arizona.
Some biography websites say that Gurley attended Olathe East High School and Mesa Community College. However, detailed school records are not widely available. Many websites also repeat the same information, so these education details should be treated with care.
How BigDawsTv Started
Gurley began posting videos on YouTube in the early 2010s. In 2016, The State Press reported that his channel had grown quickly in less than four years. What began as a video project with a friend later became a large online business.
His early videos used hidden cameras and funny public situations. Instead of making a fully scripted show, Gurley filmed real people and real reactions. This style helped BigDawsTv stand out when prank and social-experiment videos were becoming popular on YouTube.
The official BigDawsTv channel describes its content as pranks, talks with strangers and “giving back” videos. YouTube lists the channel with about 10.5 million subscribers and hundreds of videos. These numbers can change over time.
Gurley also worked on Big Daws Vlogs. This second channel included behind-the-scenes videos and personal content. IMDb lists BigDawsTv as starting in 2012 and Big Daws Vlogs as starting in 2013.
Another project linked to Gurley is The Daily Dropout. It is a comedy series with pranks, interviews and college-life content. IMDb lists the series as starting in 2017 and names Gurley as its founder. The project helped him build more than one online entertainment brand.

The Klay Thompson Prank
One of Gurley’s most famous public stunts involved NBA player Klay Thompson. Gurley looked similar to Thompson and used that resemblance in a basketball prank.
In 2018, Bleacher Report described Gurley as a professional YouTube prank creator. The report discussed how he used his resemblance to Thompson in a basketball-related stunt.
The stunt brought him attention outside normal street-prank videos. He entered basketball settings while pretending to be Thompson. However, this was not an official NBA job or endorsement.
Sportskeeda later reported that Gurley received a lifetime ban from Chase Center. The report said he entered through an employee entrance while pretending to be Thompson. This is a report about a venue incident, not proof of a criminal conviction. The public sources reviewed for this article do not show wider legal results from the incident.
Dawson Gurley’s Net Worth
There is no trusted and independently verified figure for Dawson Gurley’s net worth.
Different websites give very different estimates. Some claim his net worth is about $1 million. Other sites list figures of $1.5 million, $2.6 million or $5 million. These websites do not provide audited accounts, tax records, confirmed property values or a clear income report.
YouTube income, brand deals, merchandise sales and business earnings are not the same as personal net worth. A high subscriber count also does not show exactly how much money a creator earns.
The safest answer is that Dawson Gurley may have earned a large income from online entertainment, but his personal net worth has not been confirmed by a trusted public source. Any exact dollar amount should be called an unverified estimate.
Family and Personal Life
IMDb lists Gurley as married to Kelly Gurley since April 22, 2017. It also lists one son, Myles Wade.
Independent reporting about his family life is limited. For this reason, details beyond the information listed by IMDb should not be treated as confirmed.
Gurley has sometimes included parts of his married life and parenthood in his online content. Still, his public career is mainly based on his YouTube videos.
